Stella Canfield’s watercolors reflect her personal emotional response to the subjects she paints.  Her paintings invite the viewer to participate and share in this emotion.  The inspiration for Stella’s art comes from her appreciation of beauty and her positive view of the world.  Her passion for life is evident in her colors and in the spontaneous, expressive way she paints.  Painting in this fresh, impressionistic style has won her many awards in juried and invitational shows.  Stella has been invited to teach, demonstrate and judge shows by numerous national arts organizations , including Daniel Smith Inc. and the prestigious Northwest Watercolor Society.  Her passion and enthusiasm for watercolor and teaching have led her to teaching internationally..  Stella's paintings are included in many private and corporate collections in the USA, Europe and Asia.

Stella Canfield grew up in Varna, Bulgaria where she was a national athlete and received a master’s degree in sports education and therapy.  She left her native country in 1980 for Germany, and moved to the United States in 1985.  While raising four children, Stella has pursued her life long interest in the arts and found her second profession.  Stella and her husband Michael divide their time between Whidbey Island, Washington, USA and the small village of Barzitsa, near the Black Sea, Bulgaria.  Art is Stella’s life.  When she is not painting, she is teaching watercolor in her studio, in the Northwest or internationally.

Stella is the founder of Stellar Arts Foundation.
